The Ten Most Wanted

Below is the Top Ten worst evildoers ever in my view. Although the list is "fluid" de jure, de facto some have been on this list since 1987, although this can change with characters being added and dropped with newer more sadistic bad guys being created all the time. With that, here they are in no particular order.

Carnage (Cletus Kasady)

Cletus Kasady was a serial killer at childhood. Serving consecutive Life Sentences, he had the dumb luck of sharing a jail cell with Eddie Brock. The Venom Symbiote came and busted Brock out, becoming Venom once again, however the symbiote was (unknown to anyone else) in labor. The offspring bonded to Kasady and created Carnage. The reason he belongs on this list, Maximum Carnage. After being defeated by Spider-Man, during an examination in Ravencroft Prison, he breaks free again, this time with another insane super criminal Shriek, throughout the course of the event, he gains the Evil Doppelganger of Spider-Man, the Demon that posessed the Hobgoblin (Demogoblin), and the infected Carrion with the power to drain lifeforce, as allies in his assault of New York. With the Avengers and Fantastic Four nowhere to be found, Spider-Man and Venom and an array of heroes with no affliation to any group, band together to stop their threat. (this marks the first time to my knowledge, Spider-Man being the leader of a group of superheroes, a situtation pretty grim for that to happen) What's worse, the longer Carnage ran free, the populous became more and more unruly, becoming more and more like Carnage himself. Things came to a climax with Carnage, after killing the hero Dagger (of Cloak and Dagger) and his own follower Doppelganger (for failing to kill Spider-Man, with this Demogoblin, Doppels' "friend" leaves Carnages Crew as well) Spider-Man and Venom, put aside their differences one more time, to fight and finally subdue Carnage and his threat long enough for the Avenger to finally arrive and contain him. The deaths attributed to Carnage due to his actions are at least in the thousands and as such belongs on this list.

The Shredder (Oroku Saki)

Mortal enemy of the Ninja Turtles and their master Hamato Yoshi (Splinter in the original cartoon) the Shredder is a formidable foe. Ignoring the fact that in the original cartoon as well as in the movies he never actually defeats the Turtles permanently, he has the skills and resources nesassary to take control of the earth, the fact that he already controls all of Japan is proof of this. He has command of the Foot and is proficient in a very high level of Ninjitsu at, at least, the same level of Splinter. In the original cartoon he has even more power, in the form of an army of fully robotic Foot Soldiers, Baxter Stockman's inventions, the Technodrome (a massive fortified MOBILE battlestation that can tunnel underground unable to be easily tracked, and as far as I know, it is not in the new series) and his greatest ally Krang (the provider of the technology nessasary to create the above army and Technodrome) who himself is a commander of his OWN Stone Soldier army in an alternate universe known as Dimension X. Despite the best efforts of the Turtles, he has never been captured, and defeated, only to come back in one form or another to terrorize again. He has a position on this list because of his complete inability to surrender and his determination to win at all costs.

Skeletor (Keldor of Infinita)

I almost didn't want to put Skeletor up on this list. You see, I have only vague memories of Skeletor from the old cartoon Masters of the Universe, althought I do have distinct memories of him and He-Man. However, in 2002 a new cartoon featuring He-Man and his nemesis was made giving me insight into what the original was like, and I decided to leave him up on the Ten Most Wanted. His mastery of dark magic, proficiency in the high war technology of Eternia and supreme command presence of his many followers, who themselves are supreme commanders in different fields of expertise (one controls the waters, another one has mastery over all animals, still another is a powerful sorceress, etc.) Skeletor has earned his place here among the worst.

Doomsday (The Ultimate)

He. Killed. Superman. This fact alone has secured his place on the list. When he first appeared, nothing was known about his origin, appearing from underground and walking straight (literally) from where he was to Metropolis, several STATES away, beating any form of life in front of him to death and anything blocking his path (such as homes with people in it) was trampled on mercilously. He proceeded to mop the floor with the Justice League (granted none of the big names were there like Flash, Batman, or Wonder Woman, but still a feat nontheless) despite their combined effort with (again literally) one hand tied behind his back. After battling with Superman for hours on end with every manner of backup utterly useless against him (Supergirl after a punch in the abdomen lost integrity of her form and returned to protoplasm 8-|, and in the final hour STARR LABS called in Airborne Personal armed with Anti-Tank Lazers which may as well have been a light show, 'cause it did NOTHING to slow Doomsday down, among other things, a ridiculous amount of strength I say). Unable to stop Doomsday with strength alone, Superman changed tactics and snapped off one of his external knee bones and managed to finally weaken the monster. In the end, final blows were dealt, shattering every window in the nearby area, Superman finally put an end to Doomsdays' threat before falling unconscience and soon after died as well. Oh, by the way, he CAN NOT stay dead for long periods of time and grows immune to whatever, or in Supermans' case however, killed him previously. Yeah, he's a bad boy. This list was made for a monster like him.

Onslaught (Charles Xavier)

In an alternate future of the Marvel Universe, Mutants were being hunted and killed by the thousands and the U.S. Government as the will of the people (normal and Superhumans) fund their extermination. Mutants fight back and decimate the human populous. The following civil war and all of the chaos that happens is a direct result of one man's actions. If this one man is stopped, in the past, none of the bloodshed would happen and millions of lives would be saved. Bishop, a mutant from this time period is sent to the past to stop this man, but during the time displacement, he loses memory of who this person is. All that Bishop can recall is that he or she, is a member of the X-Men who will eventually betray the others. For a time he suspected Gambit to be the traitor. He realized too late who the real X-Traitor was, the man who's dream of peace between Mutants and Humans and a lifetime of work to ensure that dream formed the X-Men in the first place, the Professor himself, Charles Francis Xavier. Created by wiping out the memory and personality of his friend and rival Magneto (after ripping the adamantium from Wolverine's skeleton, nearly killing him in the process) and taking it within himself, it festered and grew until it manifested into a personality of it's own, finally overtaking Xavier's mind and launched his attack, first against his own X-Men (with the Juggernaut) and later the rest of the earth's heroes. It was cold and very systematic, he reactivated and took control of the Sentinals, using them to cut off Manhattan from the rest of the country, indeed of world. He caused a massive blackout that severely weakened the Avengers and Fantastic Four, while taking control of the minds of Nate Grey, the Hulk, and kidnapping Franklin Richards for his reality altering powers, increasing his own. Finally after one final assault on Onslaught's Citidel, the lives of all the Avengers and Fantastic Four were lost, with the X-Men helplessly watching on. As the public discovered that the being responsible for the deaths of earths mightiest heroes was a mutant, public opinion was turned against them permanently. The heroes eventually returned, but as the the recent event of almost all mutants on earth losing their powers (the House of M), the human majority will never forget and may never forgive, what "mutants" had done to them. The prophesy that Bishop was sent to stop had indeed come true. Onslaught belongs on this list, for ending Xavier's Dream forever.

Count Dracula (King Vlad III the Impaler of Wallachia)

The name Dracula is famous enough that I don't have to describe with much detail why he is on this list. In films he is the quintessential Vampire, with all the powers (and classic weaknesses) of a creature of the night. In the Castlevania Series, he is the dark leader of an undead army ready to strike and conquered all of Europe, then the world if not for the Belmont family clan overcoming incredible odds and defeating him, only to do so again every century (he sometimes resurrects himself sooner). And, in reality, Vlad the Impaler was one of the cruelest monarchs of the Medieval Period, Impaling his own people as well as the soldiers of the invading Ottoman Empire (lead by Sultan Mehmed II, the seasoned warrior who finally ended the Roman Empire in Constantinople) by the hundreds. He's a legend among the bad guys and belongs with other murders and tyrants on this list.

Kefka Palazzo

Kefka was a general in the Empire of Gestahl, an Empire whose ambition for world domination was very compatible with his own ideals. Driven insane by experiments to artificially make him a magic user, and as a general at war, he was responsble for the cruelest acts of the war, which included the killing of civilians in the cities of Narshe, conquering the cities of Tzen and Maranda, and massacred the entire population of Doma, among other things. In an attempt to make peace with magical beings known as Espers, the empire sent an honorable general, Leo Cristophe to the town of Thamasa. In a betrayal, Kefka, under orders of the Emperor, killed Leo and helped the Emperor secure the raw magical power of the Espers by learning the location of the Floating Continent, the location of the Espers creators (the three goddesses). Later, he himself betrays Emperor Gestahl by using the goddess statues, the source of magic in this world, and kills him. Seizeing power solely, Kefka imbalances the goddesses perfect positioning, destroying the continent and reshaping the planet surface. Within one year, ancient beasts and ghosts trapped deep below the surface rose and attacked humans, travel became impossible for many trying to escape even by air. Eight Dragons were loose on the earth with no defense for the weakened, frightened peoples. Kefka himself, having absorbed the powers of all three goddesses as well as the magical abilities of countless slain Espers, built a colossal tower made of the rubble of whole destroyed cities and debris, as a base with which to fire his massive magical attack, called the "Light of Judgement" on any city that dare attack him. Frightened and/or driven insane by Kefka's actions a "Cult of Kefka" was formed to appease, and worship him 24 hours a day with a hopeless future as a sole reward. As heroes of this world regrouped and made one final attack against Kefka in his tower, they face the guardian of the Floating Continent (Atma Weapon), a massive imperial built mech tank (The Guardian), and the three goddesses themselves, all of whom had been drained of most of their energy by their new master Kefka, for his own use. The final battle saw Kefka fully tapping into the powers he stole, declaring that life was meaningless and that he will create "a monument to nonexistance" and proceeded to cast the Light of Judgement on the world one more time. During the fight, Kefka reveals himself as an earth-born Angel of Death reaching a divine, but sinister, level of power. The ancient weapon, the sword also called the Atma Weapon was thrown into Kefka finally defeating him. However because the goddesses were the very source of magic and Kefka had drained their power into himself, magic itself would cease to exist after his death. With Kefka gone, the people finally began to rebuild. But this nameless world will never forget the name of Kefka.

Lavos

Lavos is a humungous creature of extraterrestrial origin that crash landed unto Earth in 65,000,000 B.C. during the fall of the Reptite Empire and a war victory for the young race of mammals called "Humans". Near the core of the earth, it lay dormant until the age lost to modern history around the year 12,000 B.C. when the Kingdom of Zeal (on a continent floating above the planet surface), whose people were a magically gifted offshoot of humanity was given their power by extracting large amounts of Lavos power into themselves, enslaving other less fortunate humans who lived on the planet surface during the Ice Age. That year, Lavos was awakened prematurely and destroyed Zeal with the population decimated and only a handful of survivers escaped to the surface and still others were scattered throught time. There Lavos lay dormant again until 14,000 years later, on the Day of Lavos 1:24p.m., 1999 A.D. it emerged from the core and rained millions of spores, its' reproductive method, killing millions and forever changing the climate of the planet, blocking out the sun, killing most of the plant and animal life in a few short years. The people of this time period could only record the events of that day, as the armies of the world were taken so quickly and with absolutely no warning. By the year 2300 A.D. only a group of survivors in malfunctioning city domes built by their ancestors 300 years ago hang on as the last of their food is slowly depleted. Only through the efforts of time traveling heroes from all across time gather and defeat Lavos on the Day of Lavos before he can attack and doom the earth. Lavos has (during its' hibernation) a DNA record and sample of every living creature on the planet, and over the ages has used this DNA to create a single living organism with all the power of an entire planets' lifeforce. It was this being whose power was tapped by the Kingdom of Zeal, giving normal humans the genetic capacity to use magic in the first place. Lavos also has the power to (because of its' DNA collecting nature) to replicate any known lifeform on the planet as a defense mechanism. The heroes manage to break through this defense, its' heavily protected outer shell (which can survive the vacuum of space) and into the living biological computer core of Lavos defeating that as well. Finally, they brought down Lavos by destroying the Lavos Core lifeform (which contains the power of all lifeforms on the planet including the heroes themselves), ending the threat to the Apocalyspe year and saving the future. The vast effort needed to bring down such a creature (time travel, weapons, technology, magic, skill and technique and luck) was enormous and if they had been unsucessful, the Lavos spores that matured and grew on the planet surface in the year 2300 A.D. would have spread to countless other worlds, dooming them as well. Over and over would this cycle continue, forever. Lavos is a force of nature, a creature that has no reasoning, or remorse for what it has done, its' purpose is to procreate, spread, and destroy, nothing more. It is the very nature of chaotic evil.

Lord Frieza

Frieza was a member of an extremely powerful elite race of beings called the "Changelings" whose goal is the enslavement and subjugation of the Galaxy. Other races have fought in resistance to the imperialistic Changelings, only to have their armies crushed or their homeworlds obliterated. Frieza has under his command the elites of these conquered worlds, trained 110% loyalty only to him (either by choice or out of fear). Two royal Guards (Guildo and Zarbon) accompany him at all times and in dire circumstances, the upper echelon of the army, the Ginyu Force are at his disposal. He cares for no one but his own family, namely his father, King of the Changelings an even deadlier threat. As such, he shows no regret or mercy to anyone else, including his own men, at a chance to get the Dragonballs, making his wish for immortality a reality. The crimes he has commited as Lord of the Changlings include, the total annihilation of Planet Vegeta and Nemek, (and concequently the near extinction of the Saiyan and Nemekian races, respectively) as well as countless unknown worlds with instituted slavery and/or forced service in the army. Frieza alone is a dangerous threat possessing both the ability to change his form (a well known technique in this galaxy to increase power) as well as the ability to "power up" in an unchanged state in his final, true, form (an almost completely unknown technique, only those trained in this manner on Earth as well as a handful of high ranked elite members, like leader of the Ginyu Force, Captain Ginyu, of Frieza's army are aware of it) gaining control of 100% of his power, which in his weaker first form is already immense. After a long, drawn out battle between he and a recently turned Super Saiyan Goku, he was dispatched but not killed as the planet exploded, due to his race being able to naturally survive the vacuum of space indefinately. After extensive surgery to save his life and with an even stronger cybernetic body, Frieza's only thought was to gain revenge by destroying the adopted homeworld of Goku, Earth. He and his accompaning father King Cold were finally killed during the attack of Earth by the time traveling Saiyan Trunks with little effort. For his crimes as Lord of the Changelings, willingly and trivially carrying out and many times, participating in the genocide of whole races, he is placed on this list.

?????

I know, kind of anti-climatic. I could never really bring myself to name the last character on the list, because once I put someone on, I find that another is probably a better choice. Notable villains that could go in this final spot would be Galactus, Broli, The Grim Reaper, the Celestials, the Anti-Monitor, Superboy-Prime, Thanos, Darkseid, Apocalypse, Spider-Carnage, Pazuzu (from the Exorcist) Freddy Kruger, the Metroids, the Borg Queen, Emperor Palpatine (Darth Sidious), Darth Vader, the Xenomorph Empress, Omega Shenron, Megatron/Galvatron, Unicron, and even Satan himself would be a candidate. Maybe I'll just leave it up to the reader to decide who or what belongs on this last slot, or to find that it is already occupied by the evil within ourselves.
